Under the Radar: Luke Miller, Midfield, Episcopal (Va.)/MadLax '17

Over the last few months, 3d Rising writers and evaluators have seen hundreds of hours worth of lacrosse spanning late summer into the winter, attending recruiting tournaments and showcases nationwide.

Along the way, we've collected a list of who we view as some of the best uncommitted players, primarily in the 2015 and 2016 classes, with a few 2017s as well.

The Under the Radar series will feature commentary from club and high school coaches on some of their best players still looking for a future college destination. We'll include highlight videos too.

Next up is Luke Miller -- a tall and athletic midfielder who can shoot the ball incredibly hard both on the run and with time and room. His release is smooth and he can go to his right and his left, showing velocity and accuracy in hitting corners but a nasty bounce shot as well. He gets up and down the field quickly, plays with his head up and is opportunistic in transition. A sophomore at Episcopal in Virginia and a member of MadLax, Miller showed well this past fall at the Big Four Fall Champions League. He's received numerous honors at different recruiting events, like the Under Armour Shootout and the UNC team camp.

Miller has drawn interest as perhaps one of the better remaining uncommitted 2017s. With a 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame, Miller can use a quick stutter step to get separation and explode into a shot as he keeps his feet moving. His athleticism and north-south speed makes him that much more difficult of a matchup from up top.

Here's what Miller's MadLax Orange coach Cabell Maddux had to say about him:

"Luke Miller is an extremely fast and long midfielder who can play attack as well at the next level. He is a great dodger and has ability to feed or shoot equally well. He is great at inverting and controlling the game. He is a high-character player with excellent grades as well. He has heard from about five Division I colleges and has taken some visits but since he attends a boarding school, Episcopal, it is hard for him to get out and make visits."
